The Accelerate Initiative was founded in collaboration with EcoVadis in early 2023 by four automotive, vehicle and mobility companies: General Motors, John Deere, Stellantis and Tenneco. All four leveraged EcoVadis Ratings within their sustainable procurement programs and were collectively inspired by the potential of industry collaboration to drive more significant impact and accelerate their company’s programs.
Mission statement: Accelerate the EcoVadis program of each member and accelerate the decarbonization of the automotive, vehicle and mobility supply chain, which is an industry in transformation.
The group has chosen EcoVadis as their coordination office. The executive sponsors meet quarterly to validate the action plans proposed by the program referents in the members’ meetings. Action plans focusing on supplier improvement and capacity building are based on the industry’s sustainability priorities, such as energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, the sector views insights from the joint EcoVadis-powered supplier pool that will permit the group to take action on other social, ethical or environmental topics, such as labour & human rights and child labour in particular.
Thanks to the members' programs before the initiative creation, the collaboration began with a shared supplier pool of 1,000+ companies.
The Accelerate Initiative welcomes new members starting in the second half of 2023. Applicants are encouraged to contact sectorinitiatives@ecovadis.com.
