Extending the questionnaire deadline

If you need more time to complete the questionnaire, you need to extend the deadline before it expires. In most cases, you can do it by yourself for up to 60 business days in total directly from your questionnaire.

How to extend the questionnaire deadline

  1. Open your questionnaire and go to the Questionnaire tab.
  2. On the top bar, click Extend.

  1. This will open the pop-up window where you can extend the deadline to submit the questionnaire. Select the new deadline in the Extended deadline field. Note that you can extend the deadline by up to 60 business days in total.

Example: You have already extended the deadline to submit the questionnaire by 20 business days but want to do it again. Now, you can extend the deadline by up to 40 business days.

  1. Click Extend deadline.
  2. Your deadline has been extended automatically – you don’t need to wait for any approval. Additionally, you will receive an email confirmation of extending the deadline.

Requesting an additional extension beyond the self-service limit

Once you've used your full 60-business-day self-service extension, you can't extend the deadline yourself again on the platform. If you still need more time, contact your Account Executive or EcoVadis Customer Care directly.

An additional extension beyond the self-service limit is not automatic — it depends on your questionnaire's launch date and on any restrictions the requesting company (your trading partner) has set for the assessment campaign. Any additional time granted is counted toward an overall cap measured from your questionnaire's original launch date, not stacked on top of the 60 days without limit.

If your questionnaire closed or disappeared before you could submit it

If your questionnaire's status changed to closed, canceled, or otherwise became unavailable before you could submit it — including after the deadline passed — contact EcoVadis Support rather than trying to resolve this yourself on the platform.

Whether it can be reopened depends mainly on how long ago it was launched:

  • If it was launched within the last 6 months, we may be able to reopen it, depending on which stage of the review process it had reached;
  • If it was launched more than 6 months ago, it cannot be reopened. In that case, you would need to be invited for a new assessment, or register again through EcoVadis, to get a new questionnaire.

Postponing your assessment long-term (reorganizations, relocations, restructuring)

If a major reorganization, site relocation, or restructuring means you need to delay your assessment by several months rather than weeks, there isn't a separate self-service option for this — it's handled the same way as any extension beyond the self-service limit, described above, with the same 6-month-from-launch ceiling and subscription-end-date constraint.

In practice, this means:

  • Contact your Account Executive or Customer Care as early as possible and explain the situation — the more lead time, the more options we have.
  • We can't currently guarantee that an assessment credit stays reserved indefinitely past those limits. If your delay would run past the 6-month ceiling or past your subscription's end date, talk to us about your options, which may include using your next subscription period's credit or purchasing an additional assessment.
  • If a requesting company invited your assessment, they may need to agree to the delay as well.

Note: If your situation doesn't fit neatly into the extension rules above, contact us directly and we'll work through it with you.
