What is Responsible Beauty Initiative?

The Responsible Beauty Initiative (RBI) is a sector initiative focused on sustainable procurement. It was founded in 2017 to improve sustainability across the beauty supply chain by sharing best practices and processes, driving a common understanding across the industry, and enhancing efficiency.

The above members share their supplier sustainability assessments on the EcoVadis platform and meet quarterly to discuss the sector view insights, share best practices and plan supplier capacity-building activities organized by EcoVadis as their coordination office. Members will contribute to a more responsible beauty industry supply chain through this joint effort. The main focus of the initiative is supply chain decarbonization. Thanks to the sector view insights provided by EcoVadis and in the context of growing climate changes, the group is now expanding its focus areas and opening working groups dedicated to water management. 

Suppose your company has received a request to be assessed by EcoVadis or to share your existing and valid EcoVadis Scorecard with an RBI member. In that case, you are considered a trading partner for at least one of the members of this sector initiative. By accepting RBI’s request, your company agrees to share your EcoVadis Rating with all current and future RBI members.
