EcoVadis may sometimes conduct a site verification at the end of the assessment and rating process. EcoVadis site verifications are similar to audits, but separate and distinct from any audit requests you may receive from your customers. This verification aims to enhance the reliability of our scorecards and assessment processes by supplementing the company-provided evidence with information obtained from the site verification process.
It's important to note that there is no additional fee for this process, providing peace of mind that there are no unexpected costs associated with the EcoVadis site verification. Further exceptions include if your company has provided a valid and relevant sustainability audit report (e.g., a recognized protocol such as RBI, SMETA, BSCI, etc., conducted within the previous two years). You will generally not be selected for the EcoVadis site verification process. This is to ensure a fair and balanced approach to all companies.
What are EcoVadis site verifications?
EcoVadis defines an internal process as selecting a small number of risky suppliers to be part of this internal scorecard quality assurance process. Site verifications are conducted for internal quality assurance and methodology verification. We conduct a very small number of site verifications to collect independent opinions on the assessed company. We use the information to supplement and compare it with the supplier-provided evidence, leading to more reliable scorecards and assessment processes.
How are site verifications determined?
Unfortunately, we cannot disclose the reasons for selecting any supplier for the process apart from the selection criteria above, since the findings/ scores are only official once the scorecard is published.
Your cooperation with an EcoVadis site verification request is greatly appreciated and crucial. It plays a significant role in ensuring the timely delivery of your Scorecard results and contributes to the overall success and reliability of the assessment process.
