The EcoVadis Carbon Rating process begins when a buyer company (referred to as the Requesting Company) invites its partners (referred to as Rated Companies) to assess their carbon management practices and share quantitative GHG emissions data through the EcoVadis platform.
Rated Companies complete a questionnaire as part of the EcoVadis Carbon Rating solution, providing key information about their carbon management system and performance metrics. EcoVadis experts then evaluate the submitted data and issue a carbon scorecard that highlights the Rated Company’s performance, which can be shared with the Requesting Company.
Steps to complete the EcoVadis Carbon Rating:
-
Register with EcoVadis
- If you were invited to get rated by EcoVadis through one of your trading partners, follow the link in the email invitation to register.
2. Upon registering, you will:
- Gain permanent, free access to the EcoVadis platform with all the Carbon Rating features.
- Note that the Carbon Rating is only available by invitation. It’s not possible to sign up for the Carbon Rating independently without being invited by a trading partner.
- Complete your company profile by providing additional details about your operations, ensuring the questionnaire is tailored to your specific context.
-
Answer the Questionnaire
- As part of the free Carbon Rating, you’ll answer questions about your carbon management practices and provide quantitative GHG emissions data.
- Responses should be evidence-based, meaning that most answers will require supporting documentation. Ensure all documents are valid and relevant, as incomplete submissions may impact your score.
For companies seeking a broader assessment, EcoVadis also offers comprehensive sustainability ratings that include additional environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.
- Wait for expert analysis (scoring)
After submitting the questionnaire, EcoVadis analysts assess your responses and supporting documentation to calculate your carbon score and publish the scorecard. This typically takes 2 to 3 weeks. Read more about the EcoVadis Carbon Methodology.
- Share results
Once your carbon scorecard is published, you’ll receive an email notification. The scorecard will be available on your EcoVadis platform and remain valid for 12 months. If you were invited to be rated by a trading partner, your carbon scorecard would be automatically shared with them.
