What does the EcoVadis Carbon Rating process look like?

The assessment process offered by EcoVadis' solutions begins with the use of Carbon Action Manager (CAM) by the buyer company (called the Requesting Company) to ask its suppliers (called Rated Companies) to assess its management system and share quantitative GHG emissions data (metrics). 

The Rated Companies, through EcoVadis Carbon Rating solution, answer a questionnaire providing the information that will be used to evaluate their performance. Finally, EcoVadis experts assess the data provided and issue a carbon scorecard with the Rated Company's score, which can then be shared with the Requesting Company.

Here are the steps to complete the EcoVadis Carbon Rating:

1. Register with EcoVadis 

If you were invited to get rated by EcoVadis by one of your trading partners, simply follow the link in the email invitation. If you haven’t received any invitations but wish to get rated, go to this registration page.  

If you register, you will:

• Get access to the free version of the EcoVadis platform, with many resources that will help you get started
• Be able to complete the company profile by providing additional information about your company. This will make it possible to tailor the questionnaire and the subscription offer to your company’s needs.

2. Answer the questionnaire

Before answering the questionnaire, choose the subscription plan that works best for you. Instead of completing the carbon rating only, you can opt for a more comprehensive sustainability rating. All EcoVadis Ratings are evidence-based, meaning that most questions require you to provide documents to support your answers. Answers without valid documents will not be credited. 

3. Wait for expert analysis (scoring) 

After submitting the questionnaire, our analysts will assess your answers and supporting documents to calculate the score and publish your carbon scorecard. This should take 2 to 3 weeks at maximum. Read more about the EcoVadis Carbon Methodology.

4. Share results

When your carbon scorecard is published, you will receive an email notification. The scorecard will be available on your EcoVadis platform and valid for 12 months. If you were invited to be rated by a trading partner, your carbon scorecard will be instantly shared with them.
