There are two primary methods to better understand your scorecard results: a Scorecard Inquiry and a Session with an Analyst.
The sessions with an Analyst are not the only way to speak with an analyst. As part of the Scorecard Inquiry process, an analyst may suggest a short call if it would be more helpful to clarify follow-up questions or address specific doubts. These calls are scheduled at the analyst’s discretion, last no longer than 30 minutes, and typically focus on one or two key questions.
Scorecard Inquiries and Sessions with an Analyst are available in the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, German, and English. You may request your inquiry in any of these languages, and it will be assigned to a dedicated language analyst.
Note: During peak periods, responses may be provided in English to ensure timely assistance.
Carbon Scorecard inquiries are currently offered only in English.
*Select subscription customers should contact their Account Manager directly with any questions.

What is a Scorecard Inquiry?
A Scorecard Inquiry is a request for clarification about the EcoVadis methodology that extends beyond the information available in the Useful Resources. Use this service if you’re already familiar with the methodology but need clarity or guidance on a specific document or question.
What is not a valid scorecard inquiry?
- A correction of your scorecard or request to change the score without specific points for review.
- A list or screenshot of your improvement areas or Corrective Action Plan (CAP) without any specific questions about documents or clear evidence.
- A debate about our methodology – please submit your feedback to our Customer Care team or via the year-end survey, and the feedback will be provided to our Methodology team.
- A dispute regarding a score decrease caused by the use of precise theme scores (more details here: 26.6 Use of precise theme scores to calculate the overall score | Methodology Updates Q3 2024)
- A request to consider additional documents. We do not accept new documents after the scorecard is published. Please review our Document Guide.
- Consultative questions such as: “Which Certifications should I obtain?”, “How can I improve this policy on Energy Consumption & GHGs?”, “Which reporting standard should I align my Sustainability report with?”.
Preparing to submit a Scorecard Inquiry
Before submitting a Scorecard Inquiry, please follow these steps to ensure your request is valid and that our analysts can address it efficiently.
- Read the User Guide - Preparing Your Scorecard Inquiry (also attached at the bottom) to better orient your questions for inquiry.
- Review resources available in Useful Resources, specifically the Document Guide and the Scoring Principles.
- Download your questionnaire to review the description of questionnaire options – it can help understand the requirements for specific options.
- Cross-reference your questionnaire declarations and the documentation provided – either in the downloaded questionnaire (download instructions here), or in the ‘Analysis of your answers’ section of the scorecard.
-
Submit up to 15 specific questions in total. Sub-questions will be considered as one question. For each, indicate:
- Related document name (as listed in the Document Library)
- Page numbers
- Question code (e.g., ENV600, LAB100, etc).
- This is especially important if you are contesting an improvement area.
Examples of questions:
-
On questionnaire declarations:
- “Why was the declaration under LAB100: Employee Health & Safety rejected from the document ABC? Evidence has been provided in paragraph 2.1 on page 15”.
-
Specific questions on applying the methodology:
- “How do Strength and Improvement Area priority levels work?”
- “What kinds of evidence do we need to see for specific topics (Risk assessments, Sustainable Procurement policies, etc)
If you need further clarification after the analyst's initial response, please reach out to the analyst directly within the timeframe specified in their email. Thereafter, for any additional questions after the engagement, please direct them to our Customer Care team via the Contact Us page. This ensures that we address all of our customers’ questions and maintain a fair allocation of resources.
