The EcoVadis Carbon Rating allows companies to measure and improve their carbon management performance. If you have been invited by a trading partner to complete a free Carbon Rating, follow this step-by-step guide to get started.

If you do not meet these criteria you can complete an assessment via the Sustainability Rating. This is a paid subscription that provides a full assessment across four broader sustainability themes, and includes your carbon scorecard and performance metrics.

- Industry in which your company operates – if you have any questions while selecting your industry, refer to International Standard Industry Classification guidelines.
Step 3: Wait for Questionnaire
After completing the registration, EcoVadis needs up to 6 business days to verify your company information and to customize your questionnaire and subscription offer. Once it is ready, we will let you know about it by email.
Step 4: Choose your subscription plan
Once the questionnaire is ready, you will get an email to select your plan. Confirm your subscription before the link expires.
Carbon Rating: This plan contains carbon questions only and results in a carbon scorecard. Carbon Rating is offered free of charge, courtesy of EcoVadis. Companies can complete the process and receive a carbon scorecard at no cost.
Sustainability Rating: This is a comprehensive paid plan covering Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. This plan requires a subscription. For more information about EcoVadis subscription plans, visit the pricing page: Plans and Pricing.
Important: If you choose the free Carbon Rating, you cannot currently upgrade to the Sustainability Rating. You also cannot downgrade from the Sustainability Rating to a free Carbon Rating.
Step 5: Confirm billing information
Even for the free Carbon Rating, you must confirm your company’s billing information and contact details.
Enter your legal entity name, address, and VAT number (if applicable).
You will not be billed for the Carbon Rating as the cost is €0.
Step 6: Review and start the questionnaire
Review the summary of your scope, company size, and industry. This ensures you receive the correct questions.
Your questionnaire is divided into three sections: Commitment, Actions, and Reporting.
If you spot any mistakes with the company information assigned for your company, please contact us.
Step 7: Wait for expert analysis
After submitting the questionnaire, EcoVadis analysts assess your responses and supporting documentation to calculate your carbon score and publish the scorecard. This typically takes 2 to 3 weeks. Read more about the EcoVadis Carbon Methodology.
Step 8: Share results
Once your carbon scorecard is published, you’ll receive an email notification. The scorecard will be available on your EcoVadis platform and remain valid for 12 months from the publication date. If you were invited to be rated by a trading partner, your carbon scorecard would be automatically shared with them.
