Why am I being invited to the EcoVadis Carbon Rating?

The EcoVadis Carbon Rating helps your trading partners address the need for carbon emissions reductions in their supply chain. It provides insights into the carbon management practices and performance and offers a set of tools to monitor and drive emissions reductions. As a rated company, you can be asked to support your partners in their decarbonization journey and respond to carbon questionnaire to receive a carbon scorecard.

The EcoVadis carbon scorecard provides an independent assessment of your company’s carbon management system and performance as well as a dedicated dashboard with an aggregated view of carbon management: allowing you to analyze key performance indicators by region or industry, continuously monitor progress and improvement trends, and export results for reporting on your supply chain climate action.

The scorecard will identify carbon management levels and show specific strengths and improvement areas targeted at each level. Management levels include insufficient, beginner, intermediate, advanced, and leader.

• Carbon scorecards can be used by requesting companies to identify trading partners that are engaged in the fundamentals of carbon management, those with carbon risks that need addressing, and the top performers in carbon abatement. For rated companies, the carbon scorecard can be a blueprint for the future, a validation of achievement, and an opportunity to demonstrate leadership. The carbon scorecard will be complemented with a variety of materials helping to foster comprehension and adoption of continuous improvement, based on your current scorecard results.
• Your company's score may be used as a new vendor qualification criteria, considered as part of a proposal for new business (e.g. weighted criteria in an RFP/RFQ), as the measurement of potential business risks, or to benchmark performance during an annual review.
• If your company's score is low, you may be prompted to start a corrective action plan. If your company's score is high, you may be identified as a strategic trading partner.
