The Responsible Aluminium Alliance (RAA) is a sector initiative focused on advancing sustainable procurement within the global aluminium industry. It was founded in 2025 by Alcoa Corporation, Emirates Global Aluminium, Norsk Hydro, and Speira with the objective to standardize sustainability expectations across the sector.
Each member of the initiative is driven by a voluntary, shared commitment to raising the bar on ethical, social, and environmental standards across the entire aluminium value chain. We work hand-in-hand with suppliers to create meaningful change throughout the industry.
Our Vision: To drive collective progress in the aluminium value chain through trusted supply networks and purposeful procurement. We aim for measurable annual improvements in our suppliers' ESG performance and data transparency, fostering widespread positive impact.

How the initiative works
All RAA members request sustainability assessments from their suppliers via the EcoVadis platform. Members meet regularly to discuss sector-specific insights, share best practices, and plan joint supplier capacity-building activities, with EcoVadis acting as a neutral and central coordination office.
Through collaborative partnerships and aligned sector standards, The Responsible Aluminium Alliance aspires to build upon a sustainable foundation for human rights and the environment within the aluminium industry. All activities are conducted strictly within the limits of competition law.
For Suppliers: Sharing Your EcoVadis Scorecard
If you have received a request to be assessed by EcoVadis or to share your existing and valid scorecard with an RAA member, you are considered a trading partner for at least one of the members of this sector initiative. By accepting RAA’s request, your company agrees to share your EcoVadis Rating with all current and future RAA members.
This collaborative approach allows you to:
Streamline Reporting: Share one scorecard with multiple key customers, significantly reducing your administrative assessment workload.
Enhance Visibility: Gain recognition for your sustainability efforts from a unified group of industry leaders.
Access Collective Support: Benefit from joint training and resources designed to help you improve your sustainability performance, particularly regarding decarbonization and human rights due diligence.
